24 October 2026 - 4 Hands - 88 Keys - 20 Musical Years
Our anniversary concert on Saturday, 24 October 2026, in the Catholic parish hall in Markt Bibart was a great success. Under the motto "4 Hands – 88 Keys – 20 Musical Years", my long-standing student Emma Weigand and I enjoyed a special concert evening with a wonderful, enthusiastic audience.
We are especially grateful for our guests’ generous donations: more than €1,000 was raised for the HADDTS Foundation, which supports children with the very rare genetic condition HADDTS. This made the evening even more meaningful to us.
The Klavierschule Markt Bibart is now the first establishment in Markt Bibart to join the Schutzinsel initiative!
Schutzinseln are places where children can easily get help and find refuge in an emergency.
They can be recognised by the Schutzinsel sticker and will hopefully soon be available throughout all towns and communities.
19 April 2022 - Hygiene Measures for In-Person Lessons
Various measures are in place to protect you and your fellow students during in-person lessons:
A touch-free dispenser with skin-friendly hand sanitiser (Orochemie C25 "limited virucidal activity PLUS"). All students are asked to use it before their lesson and are welcome to use it afterwards as well.
Regular application of a gentle antiviral coating to the instruments using a long-lasting disinfectant (Zoono Microbe Shield from New Zealand), as well as to door handles, light switches, pens, etc.
Increased ventilation, especially during breaks.
3 air purifiers with HEPA H13 filters in the teaching room and entrance area provide more than 10 air changes per hour even on a quiet low setting (more than twice the number recommended for schools and childcare centres), and more than 15 air changes per hour in the waiting area. → Info
In addition, a Venta air washer keeps humidity in the teaching room at an optimal 45–50%, which is good for the instruments and mucous membranes and unfavourable for viruses. → Info
During periods of high infection rates, I ask you to wear a face mask, in accordance with DTKV recommendations. I am happy to provide a selection of attractive, high-quality masks free of charge (dental supplies from Euronda 4-ply). I will also wear a mask temporarily.
Of course, you can also continue with online lessons, whether temporarily, permanently or whenever they suit you better.
3 August 2021 - Yamaha Disklavier
The world’s most advanced reproducing piano is now available for your lessons: The Yamaha Disklavier YUS1 Enspire! ♫
- A high-quality acoustic piano that can record and reproduce your playing in detail.
This opens up unprecedented possibilities for analysing your playing during lessons, whether you are learning new pieces or techniques or tracking your progress over time.
Four-hand pieces can also be recorded or practised by a single pianist.
At the touch of a button, the piano can be switched to a fully featured digital piano. Digital choir or string accompaniment can even be played through the studio monitors alongside the acoustic piano, creating a special experience, for example with film music.
25 July 2020 - Hugh Sung's Debussy Project
I am delighted to be part of the latest project by pianist Hugh Sung
from Philadelphia, USA.
He brought together 130 pianists aged 5 to 77 from 12 countries and 41 cities to create an arrangement combining Debussy’s "Pagodes" with the theme from the Disney film "Mulan". I had the pleasure of recording "Pagodes".
Enjoy! ♫
6 April 2020 - New Studio System for Piano Lessons by Video Call
Because of the current situation surrounding the new coronavirus, I will most likely continue to offer piano lessons exclusively by video conference for the next few months. Even if schools reopen in the coming weeks, maintaining a safe distance during piano lessons would not be feasible, making it impossible to protect my students and effectively interrupt chains of infection.
I have therefore equipped my teaching room with a special computer-based studio system so that I can offer live video piano lessons with the best possible picture and sound quality.
For excellent sound, I use three separate studio-quality condenser microphones. For the best possible picture, I use an APS-C system camera and a second Full HD camera providing an overhead view.

Once we have come through the coronavirus crisis, we can continue to use this system whenever you cannot arrange transport or severe weather, icy roads or illness prevent you from attending lessons at the school.
We can also make high-quality recordings of your playing during lessons here at the school.
31 March 2020 - Your Ideal Piano Lesson by Video Call
For the past two weeks, I have temporarily been teaching exclusively by video conference. (→ more information)
See also my information letter of 29 February.
My aim has always been to protect my students and their families, regardless of whether this causes me financial loss or might be seen as an excessive measure.
Unlike in most other areas of public life, we sit very close together during piano lessons and would be unable to maintain the recommended minimum distance.
I had therefore been consulting various experts since the end of January, gradually strengthening hygiene measures and trying to alert my students to the potential situation through information letters.
I would like to thank all the students and parents who welcomed this modern form of teaching from the outset and gave it a chance!! ☺️
For anyone who initially wanted to pause piano lessons because of COVID-19, I would once again warmly recommend giving it a try, with no obligation.
The lessons remain just as individual, personal and high-quality as before. Video calls via WhatsApp, Skype, Facetime or Google Duo work very well, and the feeling of physical distance almost completely disappears after just a few minutes of focused teaching. It is a wonderful alternative at a time when we are all working together to prevent infections.
